1st Grade Goes to Sea World!

Our first graders showed their appreciation for marine life by visiting Sea World! They observed and identified different ocean animals, explored their habitat and needs and gained a deeper understanding of the importance of caring for our oceans. Students named at least three different marine animals and described one unique feature of each. They explained what a habitat is and gave an example of how an animal’s habitat meets its need for food, water, and shelter. They also shared one way people can help protect ocean animals and their environments.

As a post-trip lesson, students conducted a research project on ocean animals. They used evidence to explain how animals and plants use their body parts to get food, water, air, shelter, and for movement.
